Humanities Rally is naast een actiegroep nu ook al meer dan vijf maanden actief als studentenpartij in de studentenraad van de FGw, onder de naam Humanities Rally Partij. Hoewel de inspraak van studenten nog steeds beperkt is, is de aanwezigheid van een kritische groep studenten in de medezeggenschap belangrijk. We hebben in de raad succesvol gestreden tegen het afschaffen van studies en voor het afschaffen van onnodige rendementsmaatregelen. Onze raadsleden hebben er bijvoorbeeld voor gezorgd dat er op onze faculteit voorlopig geen selectie bij reguliere masters komt.
Omdat we door willen gaan met het strijden voor een betere faculteit doet Humanities Rally Partij ook mee met de verkiezingen voor volgend jaar. We zijn dan ook vanaf nu op zoek naar mensen die de facultaire studentenraad in willen namens Humanities Rally Partij: studenten die geloven in meer inspraak voor docenten, die streven naar een bottom-up bestuursstructuur en die zich willen inzetten voor een transparantere faculteit met meer autonomie, waar specialisatie boven verbreding gaat.
Wie geïnteresseerd is of graag meer wil weten kan dat laten weten via de mail (humanitiesrally@gmail.com) of zich persoonlijk tot één van de leden van de sollicitatiecommissie richten. Schroom niet om bij twijfel vragen te stellen!
Op 22 februari om 20:00 uur in zaal 1.04 van het P.C. Hoofthuis zullen we voor geïnteresseerden een informatieavond houden over wat men van werken in de facultaire studentenraad kan verwachten. Wees erbij! De definitieve keuze voor de inzetbaarheid voor de kandidatenlijst willen we uiterlijk 21 maart weten. Voor iedereen die geïnteresseerd is, houd 26 & 27 maart vrij: in dit weekend zullen de sollicitatiegesprekken plaatsvinden.

you might have heard that Humanities Rally has also been active in the faculty student council for the last five or so months. The members of the Humanities Rally Party (the student council party) have achieved some important successes, despite having little real say in important matters. They have successfully fought against efficiency measures that lessen the quality of education and research. For instance, they have made sure regular masters will not be selective at our faculty. This shows how important it is to have critical students in the student council.
Because we want to continue fighting for a better faculty through the means of the student council, Humanities Rally Party will participate in the oncoming elections. Starting now, we will be looking for people who want to join the student council on behalf of the Humanities Rally Party. We’re looking for students who believe teachers and students should have more say in the faculty, who strive for a bottom-up management structure and who want to fight for a more transparent faculty with more autonomy, a faculty at which specialisation is more important than massification. [Important: the paper reality of the UvA exists only in Dutch, so keep this in mind!]
